Do you think Sheffield deserved an extension beyond this year?

I tend to think that it’s best that if after this year’s campaign the Mets and Gary part ways…he’s been a nice additon for this season…and it completed that sentimental story of Doc’s nephew playing for the Mets.  However, as we turn the page toward 2010 it’s time to start looking younger and in order to take a step in that direction we need to leave Sheff as a memory, similar to the way the Mets did not bring back Darren Oliver after 2006, or Damion Easily after 2008.
